The Goldsmiths Design festival returned in 2016 as part of the London Design Festival. All events took place in a single location, at the St James Hatcham gallery in New Cross. A private view for the exhibition opened on the evening of September 15th, with members of the public welcome on 16-18 September.

The MA class of 2016 presented their graduating projects; Design alumni were able to reconnect at a special Alumni receptions; guests, workshops and special performances were also included in the programme. All events were free to attend.


The postgraduate show explored a variety of topics and issues, from diagnosing eating disorders amongst Chinese youth to crowding on the Underground and cat cafes, and included interactive performances by graduating students Myungji Kim and Paulina Klapetek. Meanwhile, MA Fashion student Tilde Snyder presented her latest collection on the London Underground.


Celia Pym and Emma Hoette led a Fashions and Embodiment workshop where attendees were invited to explore relationship between fashion and movement through the acts of wearing and repairing.

The Alumni reunion evening began with short talks from Design alumni, followed by a drinks reception and the opportunity to mingle and network.

Other events included talks by Tobie Kerridge, Charlie Evans, Jimmy Loizeau and Liam Healy.
