Cool, I don’t care
This project shapes a definition of coolness as the complex relationship between three elements: BODY + OBJECT + AUDIENCE. My interest in this elusive state of being lies in the intersections between these three elements within the realm of everyday life. In contrast to the glossy and unattainable renderings of coolness presented by mainstream fashion media my interpretation is filtered through an interest in body and gender politics, and DIY aesthetic and practices. Coolness becomes a tool to challenge methods of image making and at the same time trigger conversations about the potential of fashion-led practices to empower alternative and experimental versions/manifestations of cool.
