Sky Almanac

MA Design Critical Practice

The ‘almanac’ is a compendium of data, causes, composition, stories and myths of the sky above our heads. Its aim is to encourage one to look up and engage with the skies we all can see – but often do not. The ‘almanac’ is illustrated with photos, diagrams and drawings as well as textual and numerical information. It is not, however, purely informational but also an activity book cum diary that encourages a user to note, record and regard – have regard – for that vast space of mystery and wonder that envelops us. Photographs have been produced as artwork in itself but also illustrations of engagement with tasks set out in the almanac.
