MA Design and Innovation

Can Architecture help extend the social interaction of the city as a form of social innovation? Through this project I have proposed as series of new parasitical retrofit add-on spaces that attach to existing buildings. These new add-on spaces intend to facilitate new social interactions at the boundary between the street and the building. The city offers a fantastic opportunity to reuse space that is typically only used during the working day, and questions how we think about new public spaces. I have designed a series of add-on objects that transform the boundaries of the existing buildings of our vibrant cities. The work was inspired by fractal geometry to unfold spaces, and I have included animations in the work to preserve the poetic inspiration of my innovation project.
